@Faith-and-Hope. Unfortunately my best friend is drinking to excess every day. This makes it very hard. But we spoke about her drinking tonight. She knows it's a problem. All I can do is be there for her.
But it does mean she's drunk every night and therfore, there is no empathy or logic from her.
But I found a lot of support from my friends here on the forum today. So, until my friend sorts herself out - I might just seek support from here.

Im reading your message re; being vulnerable and I feel....yes, yes, I understand!! 

In a minute, Ille find the book I'm getting for my son about being allowed to be vulnerable, I might give it to my husband to give to him.......

Don't give up @utopia...always be yourself .....putting one foot in front of another thinking of the support that you can always depend on  !!

Thank you @PeppiPatty. I think I'm coping with this liss of friendship better than I would have in the past, because of all the supportive people on this site.
Even listening to what other people here are going through, teaches me lessons.
Yes, I hope to stay open with my heart. It's what has helped me with rediscovering who I truly am. And that brings me happiness and contentment.
I'd be interested in knowing the name of the book. But no rush. I have over 8 library books and 2 Christmas books next to my bed. Lol.

I've heard good things about this book. I want my husband to give it to him because they get along very well and I'm overwhemed with my own stuff and I want to have a rest.

I find it very easy to make friends but don't really hang around because often, esp. where I live they dont understand.

my husband needs to be with me 

He is my first priority.

WE have a lonely life at home. I am very busy with my own stuff. I really really want to start my new artwork but need to start purchasing new pencils and planning the picture properly with black card on top of white and all shades of blue.

Your husband giving your son the book may be a good bonding exercise. Where they can strengthen their relationship even further.

I am sorry to hear what is happening with your friend @utopia .... it sounds like she is in a lot of pain.  

Hopefully the strength and healing that is emerging in you will attract her to wanting better for herself.

Me and my husband see the Doctors that We Love..... interesting, one of the nurses at 60 years old works at The Indigenous Heath and Doctor's Centre twice per week. I thought of you when she was telling me. Would you be interested invollunteering at a centre that cares for stigmatised people ?

For example :

Migrants ?

Indigenous Women and Children ? 

The Elderly ? 

I've always thought that you would be.......

My best friend will get where she needs to go. Yes she is in a lot of pain. She's taken a step backwards, but she is strong, and she will find her strength again.
Sometimes we learn the most by our mistakes. Sometimes we need to go through certain things, so we can come out stronger and continue to grow.
She will get there. We help each other when we can. We love each other regardless.

@PeppiPatty. Yes they are all areas that I am interested in.
I belong to our local refugee group - where we encourage our small country town to come together with refugees from nearby towns, to participate in activities and encourage friendships and learning. It a wonderful group. We also campaign against better treatment of refugees by our politicians. That's an ongoing battle.
I'm also starting to join more activities by some of our local environmental grouos. Again with campaigning. But also with education.
Plus I joined a meditation group in town. So 2016 was really about pushing me to join in more with my local community - but with groups that resonate with me. And I'm slowly meeting some like minded people. And they are getting to know me.
