Sometimes I find yoga can help

When life seems a bit bleak, and my mind is crowded with negative thoughts, I sometimes find it lifts my mood to look at this picture on my wall. Perhaps in some way it may also help you Smiley Happy

I love yoga @Former-Member, hence my avatar pic. Smiley Happy

Your pic made me laugh, as today during practice, all I could think about what I was going to eat afterwards! Smiley Very Happy

@aButterfly is another fellow yogini, I wonder if she can relate to also relate to this pic.

Re: Sometimes I find yoga can help

That made me laugh @Neil01, Smiley Very Happy thank you

I used to do Yoga before @CherryBomb, have not done it for a while xx

Re: Sometimes I find yoga can help

Hi @Former-Member,

That definitely made me giggle. Smiley Very Happy I guess I'm weird because I actually don't have that issue when I'm doing yoga. I think it's because my ideal level of sensory input is so low, I feel in my ideal zone when I'm doing something like yoga whereas a lot of others need more input and thus their mind wanders.

Yoga is definitely one of my super important tools in my toolkit for managing big feelings. Actually, just this week my psychologist and I were talking about neurogenic yoga, also known as shaking yoga. Are any of you familiar with this @CherryBomb, @Former-Member @soul @Shaz51 @Former-Member? http://neurogenic-yoga.squarespace.com/aboutneurogenicyoga/

It makes a lot of sense to me. I hadn't actually heard the term "neurogenic yoga" before, but I have previously known about Trauma Releasing Exercises  (TRE) and apparently this is where the idea has evolved from. I have experimented with TRE just by myself using youtube clips as my guide and I do find it a super effective tool in managing big feelings.

Sorry, that all got a bit deep for your thread didn't it @Former-Member. It just all popped into my brain because of the conversation with my psychologist on Monday. Smiley Happy

Re: Sometimes I find yoga can help

I've not heard of neurogenic yoga before @Phoenix_Rising, but it sounds really interesting! It certainly does make a lot sense.

Re: Sometimes I find yoga can help

neurogenic yoga, also known as shaking yoga sounds really interesting, -- @Phoenix_Rising, I agree @CherryBomb

Re: Sometimes I find yoga can help

G'day @Phoenix_Rising,

No probs. I can do 'deep'. Smiley Wink And thank you because I hadn't thought of trying yoga when I'm depressed. Although Iyengar may not quite 'do it' as well as Neurogenic/TRE. I'll hunt out N/TRE and give it a try. I need everything I can get in my Health Management Toolkit.

Re: Sometimes I find yoga can help

Yes, I am a yogi & I relate... Yoga helps with all the trauma etc, but, yes, sometimes warrior pose becomes more worrier pose!! Thanks for the mention @CherryBomb 🙂

Namaste,

Anna
