Night Shift

Re: Night Shift

OMG @Former-Member, wow, they must have been so cute in real life, i have seen them many times on TV, mum loves Panda's and penguins. so i have to find a penguin one for mum to do 🙂

I hope you are ok my friend, i worry about you, i hope you manage a rest tonight, you are doing such a great job, i am so proud of you.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Polly48

It sounds like you have a good retirement plan and a reasonable set up with apologies and bloke and shed.

@PeppiPatty I second @Former-Member and think it could be a mutually beneficial arrangement with hubster and son.

@Former-Member sorry to hear about your neck. Nobody likes that sort of pain. Certainly not me. I have never been able to afford much in the way of neck medical support it has always been very frugal and simply not enough.  You do need to learn about the spine and your responses to exercise and yoga postures...  So you can be your own best advocate and a knowing one. I have a feeling that you push yourself a lot like me .. and one thing . that helps is to learn the difference between lactic acid pain ... which is easy and also known as "good' pain .. muscle building  ... and joint and nerve pain .. which is trickier and show that something is amiss.

Hello to anyone I have missed.

Re: Night Shift

oh dear, @Shaz51, its so hard to get into see a doctor sometimes... 😞 I've had to go to emergency a few times with the kids for coughs/fevers because the drs had no more appointments.. so frustrating...

I have a very croaky voice with a cold/cough.. making teaching children interesting.

Thanks @Jacques i'm trying to hold on 🙂 2 days until school holidays

Re: Night Shift

Feels like muscular tension - like the muscles have been stretched in the wrong direction - definitely not good pain - actually went away when I ran, but then came back when I laid down... Found the pose where you are holding a push up position extra hard on Tuesday due to the pain... Maybe, the crow pose made it worse? I don't know - I wasn't feeling it when I did it... Seems like it has to be my pillow or how I am sleeping or psychosomatic... Just have to endure it I guess... I was first suicidal when I was 10 - I was in constant pain with scoliosis... I had chronic lower back pain for many years after... So, it is mainly neck/shoulder pain, but I have referred pain in lower back... Just took more anti-inflammatory meds...

Re: Night Shift

I wanted to make sure you werent pushing yourself in the "no gain without pain" style.

Quite often when we are attempting something difficult our focus and energy leaves the rest of the body and we dont always know when we push too hard.

I became very analytical about my neck and back issues while I was going to the gymn.  Which exercises or movements were more likely to strain. etc ... and which balanced me.

It may not be psychosomatic .. ie all in your head ... if you have had that history and are working hard at all the physical stuff as you do.

Be careful with difficult yoga poses.  People often carry on as if it is a cure all ... I have only done it a little and gently at home as I couldnt afford many classes .. but then later in life I knew yoga teachers... It should not be a "one size fits all" .. approach ..

I only bought a good pillow for me a couple of years ago ... first all the good pillows went to the kids. They have had them for 15 years. I will be using mine for a while. I also cannot run ... only do low impact moves ... but that still leaves a lot I can do.  Listen to your body and take care.

I was on anti inflammatories for a while but if they mask the pain .. so you dont realise the postures or movements that cause it .. then it is best to use only in extreme times
