Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Can see your point @Mazarita,all athletes have to be obsessive compulsive and it does cause problems. The more kmsyou do,it does make you feel guilty if you do less.
At the moment with anxiety in a way I am grateful I can walk. This time last year I was crippled in my feet which made me unable to walk and if I did I was in agony. For two months. My depression usually is the problem, which makes me stop with numbness or unable to put one foot in front of the other. In March I had a iron infusion which for months didn't know why I couldn't walk .Plus I get swelling in the feet from Raynaud's Disease and arthritis, not to mention three spurs .As mentioned, walking at the moment is the only way I am keeping myself going as I don't know what to do with myself.

I'm also trying to lose weight, which they say you need to do 15000 steps for.Yes there is a trap,I put weight on from doing nothing as I walked a lot,and that's not good and it showed,as I had high cholesterol from putting weight on.

Looking forward to when he can moderate it @Former-Member ..... I'm guessing he will always need to work out, he just can't see that he is burning himself out like this ...... hopefully help isn't too far away now.

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Nothing wrong with walking if it’s something you enjoy, doesn’t harm you or anyone else and doesn’t interfere with other things you need to do @Former-Member.

I have always liked to walk and when I got a dog there was an added reason to do so. Now I walk more than ever. I gave my car to my daughter before I went to live overseas for a while. When I returned, there didn’t seem to be much of a reason to buy one. The supermarket was within walking distance and I go there just about every morning and buy fresh food. The public transport is fairly good and I work from home.

I would use my daughter’s car maybe once a week if that. Can’t really justify the expense of one at the moment.

This afternoon the pooch and I got caught in the rain. We were absolutely drenched. Fortunately I had one of her plastic poop bags to put my phone in. Got home, nice warm shower, dinner, tea - ahhhh!

Step count for the day is 17 224 - just over 13kms. Still raining and lots more on the way.

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

I grew up with collie roughs @soul,I do miss a dog just not in a position to get one.I have to drive 15 minutes out to where I lived , can't walk in town, hate seeing any person on my walk.

Sounds like you had fun this afternoon anyway.Yes with the anxiety,I could be hitting the bottle! lol,but walking is a learnt way of coping past few years, but truthfully a way of escaping life.👤

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

@Former-Member, @soul, I am very obsessive in some ways, just not so much with walking. For me it's creativity. When I've got going in a big way I have sometimes gone for 18 hours straight on a project, maybe more. Though it's a really important part of my life, I'm trying to balance it with other things more. A struggle with some things, but I keep trying (when I can). Yes, do go walking if that's what helps the most. There are many worse things we could be doing and it is really good for us.
