Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

@Former-Member, thinking of you and sending you a virtual hug

I can hear a lot of my darlings felings in what you are saying and really feel for you 😞

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

💜💐 @Former-Member ...... I hear you with the walking .....

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

The snail of the group reporting in here: about 1000 steps yesterday. It's rainy here for the whole week ahead so I think my step numbers are going to be down for a while as I don't go out walking when it's raining or looking like it's about to. Regardless of the low numbers, I am interested to count the steps I am doing indoors, it's more than I expected. I've got the pedometer going most of the time now although it seems to stop counting about 8pm. That's a pity because I am more active in the evenings. Daytimes are my hardest time always, especially mornings. I've also noticed that 5000 steps is me on an especially good day. I think this is down to the array of physical health issues I have that keep me weary and in some pain most of the time. I'll just keep aiming for the 5000 steps and be kind to myself when I don't make it. That's self care too. Calmly following in your footsteps from the back of the field, Maz. ox

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Bush walking is lovely @Former-Member. Better than waiting for lights to cross roads and negotiating traffic. Seeing a deer is pretty special.

Anniversaries like that are difficult. Hope you have some beautiful memories of your father.

Your cats are something to live for. I'm sure they appreciate your company as much as you do there's.

I get it about walking. i get a bit twitchy if I can't do at least 10 000 steps every day.

This guy liked his walking.

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Thanks @soul,I walked in traffic when I moved away for six months yes not fun playing chicken across a busy road .It's been 26 years, but amazing how days like this make you think,I am messed up under pressure with a mother who is getting more helpless, and because I am a failure being under pressure to go on carers .I have taken care of her since my father's passing and feel like a trapped animal.

The cats, love me for the food sometimes, and the only problem with walking to this extent is you get obsessive compulsive which in my life can be controlling too eg:as stated before my breakdown used to walk 8 kms before work getting up at 4 430  in the morning.I never missed a day  walking some years.

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

What @Former-Member raises about getting obsessive seems worthwhile being aware of too. It's possible four hours a day like Thoreau might be a bit extreme! Though it would be lovely to wander in nature for half a day if I had the legs for it. But every day? Smiley Surprised

These leg problems I have mentioned are the result of a long, deep depression for some years, it seems. Before then, I had endless legs for walking. Strong legs, like my dad. Athletic genes run in the family, though I am a bookish type of person myself. I'm in this thread partly because I want to keep my legs moving as long as possible. I'm only 55. And, despite my low step count, I do like walking. It's frustrating not to be able to get my legs to carry me as far as I'd like to go. Smiley Frustrated

Anyway, I'll tag some others in this thread now just to say hi and to send good wishes to everyone. Heart

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Oh, I know all about obsessive exercise @Mazarita ..... I am living with the personification of it ..... lol .... 😏

Sorry @Former-Member ..... just "coping humour" .... I know it is, in fact, a very serious issue.

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Hugs, @Faith-and-Hope, it's been a long journey there. I haven't kept up with the latest of your news, hoping things are okay or, if not, that they improve very quickly for you. You deserve some peace. Heart
