ADHD

I have been diagnosed with ADHD.  My medication for schizoaffective order antagognises my ADHD. i only got injected with a dopamine blocker after being hospitalised several times due to domestic violence incidents. The male was let go and I was hospitalised and now I am immobilised on 400mg dopamine blocker. They never assessed me for ADHD

Re: ADHD

I'm not familiar with the effect but it does seem to make neurological sense. Dopamine and attention are sort of related. I feel real sorrow for knowing what you've been through. I'm also so happy that you're reaching out because you deserve all the support you can get.

It seems that the antagonizing effect has been noted, at the very least. Now it can taken into account when it comes to future medication strategies. Hopefully the new data is useful, though it is a lot to take on.

If you're interested in talking to complex trauma specialists, a lot of people here recomend the Blue Knot Foundation. They're a small team, so you generally have to leave a message and wait for them to get back to you, but they're really good.

Re: ADHD

If this has been ongoing and stimulant based meds are your normal regime, there is a non-stimulant based med for ADHD which is easily searched for (non-stimulant ADHD should do it) could be looked at with your psychiatrist? That shouldn't act directly on dopamine.
